How I Attracted My Dream Husband:

The unexpected triggers I applied that sparked up his proposal

My name is Funke; I’m a Fashion Designer based in Lagos.

3 years after my University education in 2014, I was still jobless and hunting for any available means of livelihood.

I woke up one morning and hated my existence.

My Mum was still feeding my two little sisters and me from selling minerals and pure water at the motor park.

Dad was dead.

I have written and submitted over 40 applications and CVs, yet no single reply.

One of the few that replied happened to be one that needed sleeping with the Oga, which I turned down.

At some stage, I felt cursed.

My education which my mum struggled to train us from her petty business, seems a waste of time, energy, and Money to me.

My Certificate added no value to me.

B.Sc. in Mass Communication, yet no food on the table.

At a stage, I even tried joining my mum in her business at the Motor park but the abuses and harassment I frequently get from those Agberos made me quit.

I later enrolled in a Fashion Design school but couldn’t complete it due to lack of finance.

I felt useless.

My Boyfriend was a nice guy, but he didn't have much.

Because of him, I had clothes, creams and I sometimes fixed my hair.

It wasn't his fault that I was broke.

I can't blame another innocent soul for my poverty.

My friend Bisola is always looking posh, and she never lacked money.

she had been pressurizing me to join her in what she called her hustle, but I refused because I know she is a runs girl.

So on one fateful evening, after much persuasion, she convinced me to step out with her for the first time.

The next morning, I had N10k in my purse.

But this money didn’t magically appear.

I earned it on my back, all night long.

Seven days later, my account balance was N50k.

One month later, I broke things up with my innocent boyfriend as I can’t stand repeated cheating on him, and I went into "Beast Mode."

And for Ten "bitter-sweet" months, my laps saw different strange faces.

You had the pay? Toy with my body as you may.

At 29, I bought a car, a lovely flat at a posh estate, but I never felt fulfilled because I know that what I’m doing to earn money is wrong.

At night I will go to bed, but my guilty mind never allows me to sleep well.

The guilt kept flogging my soul until I decided to end it all and quit.

I made up my mind and stopped the hustle because I know that Olosho no be work.

I went back to Fashion Design School, finished up my training, and set up my business with the little savings I made.

...and by God’s grace, the business started thriving.

But...

Since then, getting a man to marry me became a hard rock to crack.

Even when I truly opened my heart to guys?

They just toyed with my feelings...

and left me sad.

It started to look as if God was punishing me for the choices I made in my past.

One guy even had the guts to tell me that I had an aura of a cheap slut.

And that was why he was breaking things off with me.

But I have truly repented from my sins, and I’m born again now.

I have even done deliverance 3 times.

I’m a devoted Christian now; I’m truly committed to serving God.

And I prayed a lot.

Instead of things getting better, they only got worse.

No guy was talking to me for even a relationship, not to talk of marriage.

The few that came only wanted to have fun... But, I’m already made up never to engage in immorality.

…Not again

My mother told me to stop riding my car.

She said decent guys may be too scared to approach me because I looked too expensive.

So I stopped riding it.

But nothing changed.

Then one early morning after my morning prayers...

I was browsing through social media.

And saw a post that caught my attention.

A pretty lady called Amanda was sharing her story.
